Surf Infrasound at IS59
To better understand the surf signals recorded at IS59, a small aperture portable array was also deployed near the shoreline during a period of high surf during the winter of 2002-2003. Surf infrasound data from both of these arrays was compared to nearby ocean buoy measurements and showed a definite relationship between ocean wave height and infrasonic amplitudes. Further, surf infrasound seemed to be concentrated in the 1-5 Hz frequency band and infrasound arrays were able to accurately locate regions of high surf activity.
